One to one

What private video chat means on MiniChats

Private here describes the format: a one-to-one video conversation between two people. It is a focused alternative to a public room, giving both participants space to speak, listen, and decide how they want the conversation to unfold.

It does not mean that MiniChats promises anonymity or end-to-end encryption. You should still make careful choices about what you show and share. Use the Privacy Policy to understand data practices, and treat anything visible on camera or written in Messages as information you have deliberately chosen to disclose.

Your first conversation

A simple way to begin

You can arrive through Match for a direct introduction or browse the List and profiles before choosing a person to approach. Either way, a little preparation makes the one-to-one format more comfortable.

  1. Choose your entry

Use Match, or look through the Video Feed, List, and profiles for more context first.

  2. Set your boundaries

Decide what personal details and surroundings you are comfortable sharing before the camera turns on.

  3. Check the technology

Confirm your camera, microphone, network, and browser permissions are working together.

  4. Start with respect

Say hello, ask a genuine question, and give the other person room to participate at their own pace.

Permission is active

Control your camera and microphone

A one-to-one video conversation needs camera and microphone access when you want to see and speak to each other. Your browser displays a request before providing that access. Review the request, choose the devices you intend to use, and remember that the browser's site settings remain the place to change that decision later.

If you cannot be seen or heard, look for a blocked-permission icon near the address bar, check your operating system's privacy settings, and close other video applications. Reload after changing a setting. If you only want to communicate through Messages, do not treat camera access as something you owe another person.

Focused, not secret

How one-to-one differs from random discovery

Random discovery describes how you meet; one-to-one describes the shape of the conversation. Match can introduce someone without prior browsing, while the List, Video Feed, and profile browsing let you look around first. Both routes can lead to a focused video exchange.

A smaller conversation does not remove the need for judgment. Do not assume exclusivity, identity, or intentions from the fact that two people are on a call. Ask rather than infer, keep early expectations modest, and let trust develop through consistent, respectful interaction.

Desktop or phone

Keep mobile conversations intentional

On mobile, choose a stable surface, a reliable network, and a place where you can speak without being overheard. Check both the main camera view and your surroundings before starting. Notifications can reveal personal information too, so consider silencing previews while your screen is active.

Desktop gives you a larger view and may make browser permission controls easier to inspect. Mobile offers flexibility but adds movement, changing networks, and more chances to show something unintentionally. In both cases, leaving the conversation is a valid choice when the setting no longer feels right.

Beyond the camera

Messages and profiles add context

MiniChats includes Messages for typed communication and profiles for learning a little about the person you want to approach. A message can be useful when video is inconvenient, when you want to choose your words carefully, or when a conversation naturally continues in writing.

Profile browsing is context, not verification of everything someone says. Avoid sending money, credentials, identity documents, or intimate personal details on the strength of an early exchange. The Video Feed and List offer additional ways to explore, while Match remains the direct entry for a new introduction.

18+ and consensual

Privacy begins with your own choices

Only adults aged 18 and over should use MiniChats. Keep your exact location, workplace, financial details, and private accounts out of early conversations. Never pressure another person to turn on a camera, reveal their identity, or continue after they want to stop, and do not accept that pressure yourself.

Read the Privacy Policy for privacy information and the Terms of Service for service rules. For the technical side of two-way video, see our live cam chat guide.
